Rapper Eminem recently called out radio personality Charlamagne Tha God on his newly released album Kamikaze. The Co-Host of The Breakfast Club reacted to these and other controversial lyrics in an interview with Esquire.
On the comments relating to him, he took them as a compliment that a big time rapper like Eminem would mention him. Charlamagne Tha God says that it is a testament to how far he has come and his level of success that he would be mentioned on this album.
In regards to Eminem’s use of an LGBT slur directed at Tyler The Creator, Charlamagne Tha God mentions that he personally does not have an issue with it, but does acknowledge that he comes from a different time when words like this were much more widely accepted.
He states that Eminem is free to say what he wants, but that opens things up for others to be free to be offended. Charlamagne points out that in trying to call out or offend Tyler The Creator he is also offending an entire community of people who find these slurs offensive no matter what context they are being used in or whom they are directed towards.
Charlamagne Tha God praises Eminem for using his platform of white privilege to call out President Trump. He compares his political lyrics in this new album to those in his earlier album Revival and praises them for being more organic and natural.
Finally, Charlamagne Tha God praises Eminem as a rapper and his new album Kamikaze. He says that in spite of the fact that Eminem calls him out for disliking his music and last album, he was simply giving his personal review. Charlamagne Tha God mentions that Eminem is an amazing rapper and although he is not a personal fan because he can’t relate to the issues Eminem raps about, he is an unrivaled talent in the industry.
