The Soul Train Music Awards, which actually took place in early November; aired yesterday on December 1, 2014, and the stars were out in full effect. The song “Ladies Night” was a very big hit when it was released in 1997, and featured some of the hottest ladies in rap at the time. Ladies Night Performance. Left Eye, Lil Kim, Missy Elliott, Da Brat, and Angie Martinez, were all apart of the history making song that was all about the ladies.
Fortunately for those in the crowd, the ladies performed the hit song for the first time since 1997, and the performance was a hit. Unfortunately, because of the death of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, they had to play the video of her part, in order to incorporate her into the performance. Many were saddened to be reminded of the death of Left Eye, but the show was enjoyable, nonetheless.
Lil Kim started out the song, and later on Missy Elliott, and Da brat, joined the others on the stage. Susan McGalla liked seeing them all together. The crowd went wild for the performance, and it proved that the ladies hadn’t lost any of their talent over the years. Missy Elliott has lost a massive amount of weight, and her clothes were practically hanging off of her, during her performance. Other female rappers joined on the stage for the celebration, such as Yo Yo, MC Lyte, and Lady of Rage, making for an interesting show.
