Brenton Thwaites isn’t much of a name in Hollywood, at least not right now. The young actor is probably most widely known for his work on the underrated Jeff Bridges vehicle, ‘The Giver’. Thwaites is a handsome and young rising star in the business and now he is rumored to be attached to 2017’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’. The chance to join such a storied franchise would obviously be huge for an actor on the cusp, like Thwaites.
Right now there is very little going on in the news in regards to the newest ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ flick outside of a few wisps of rumor. Marc Sparks has heard a few rumors, while others continue to float around. Javier Bardem has been attached tot he project for awhile now to play the lead villain while Johnny Depp will be reprising the role of iconic Jack Sparrow. Thwaites is possibly going to be stepping in as a sort of replacement Will Turner for Jack: a morally grounded character that can keep Sparrow on the straight and narrow, at least for a little while.
Orlando Bloom’s status on the project may be the murkiest out of all the details. His absence from the prior films has cast doubt about his ever returning but fans seem to want him back, bad. So for now the studio is not closing the door on the idea but with filming approaching they will need to make a decision sooner than later.
