Actor Hugh Jackman is best known for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men movie franchise. He will continue to be known for this role now that he’s essentially confirmed to be returning for a third Wolverine movie.
Jackman has been a key part of the X-Men franchise for the better part of the last decade, and has gone on to state that he feels that the next movie in the series, X-Men: Apocalypse, will be a prelude and lead into the story of the next Wolverine movie. Fans at Rocketfuel (Twitter.com) have heard that James Mangold, the director of 2013 movie The Wolverine is also returning to direct this film.
Aside from directing the movie, Mangold has discussed having Patrick Stewart return to his role as Professor Charles Xavier in this movie. In addition to this, there also comes the possibility that Wolverine, along with the rest of the X-Men franchise, could crossover and become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe itself, given the news that Sony and Marvel Studios have struck an agreement that allows for Spider-man to be part of their universe. If X-Men does indeed make it into the MCU, then other franchises could be sure to follow.
The Wolverine 3 doesn’t have a confirmed release date, but likely will happen a year after X-Men: Apocalypse comes out, which is scheduled for 2016.
